Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting extra-inning clash that saw the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51M watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB reported this represents the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game secured over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last finale between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-game World Series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million watchers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since 2017.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen various tongues.
