From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Strategists parties.
Fans can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
